Oko just doesn't have any of these characteristics that all black planeswalkers share(outside of the C18 ones but those are kind of weird since they're from a commander product). In contrast to black planeswalkers who have a strong connection to black creatures(Vampires-Sorn, undead-Liliana, demons- Davriel) and have powers based around death and actively harming others. He is allied with faeries and uses bramble/plants as tools. His powers are shapeshifting, mind control, healing, and transmutation. He doesn't do things for his own personal gain like most black characters do, he does them for his amusement and satisfaction.Īlso he just straight up lore wise has no connections to black magic or creatures. He is conceited and cruel, but those are not characteristics consistent with black characters and blue and green can also have fair number of characters with those traits. His blue is represented by the way he looks at things logically and his cleverness. He has strong connections to freedom and against a structured society which leads to his green and why he wants to kill King Kenrith to return the realm back to the Wilds who the land originally belonged too. Just because he's a villain doesn't mean that automatically makes him black by nature. Personally he makes more sense as just blue green to me from what I've heard. I don't know what's up with wizards and them not printing a true Naya planeswalker who uses all three colors at the same time, but it's weird how this has happened three times. So we've got a planeswalker who's mostly mono white but has dipped into Boros and Selsnya, a former Boros planeswalker who turned Selsenya, and a planeswalker who used to be almost Naya before she was a planeswalker but is now only Gruul. She's now always a pure Gruul planeswalker with ] and ]. But after her plane was destroyed by the eternals and her spark ignited when she saved Hazoret, she lost her whiteness because she no longer had any hierarchy to follow like she did before. She's now a solid Selesnya planeswalker with ] and ].īefore obtaining her spark, she was a primarily Gruul aligned person with some access to white in ]. 
Her redness represented her zealotry to serving her nation and her passion in battle.īut Huatli realized that other people matter and racism was bad, so she lost red and gained green to represent her new understanding of the world. She started out also as Boros in ] and ]. There's also Huatli from Ixalan who's had a similar path as Ajani but in a much shorter time frame. On kaladesh he returned to green in ] and ] and on Ravnica he was green while saving Ravnican citizens with ]. He was mostly still mono white, but he'd occasionally dip into green again, usually when protecting a plane from a threat. He lost his red side when he realized that anger wasn't worth it and put on some more clothes.įor a long time he was a mono white planeswalker spreading peace, love, and providing protection to everyone around him.īut after Elspeth's death, he started mentoring others and guiding them as a counselor.
